Convention Bureaus New Name: Visit Denver

For quite a long time Denver’s tourism and marketing agency has had several different names, for about 99 years in fact. Some of the names that you may have heard it referred to as over the years includes The Denver Tourist and Publicity Bureau a long with many others. However more recently it has been called the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau. States Bureau president Richard Scarf has gone on record as saying, “It’s a mouthful of name that everyone from the Mayor to our own Board of Directors has trouble remembering and saying.”

Over the years many cities including New York have decide to change the name of this department, opting for an easier to remember and say moniker. In order to come up with a viable solution to the name, the Board has conducted many a focus group and studies in order to come up with and try out new names.

On November 13th, 2008 at the 99th annual bureau’s meeting, a new name was official unveiled. The new name will be: VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau. This will officially act as the new moniker for Denver’s tourism and market agency.
