Kjell Mitchell Appointed Leader of 2010 Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association

On January 15th in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Kjell Mitchell, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, was appointed as the 2010 head of the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association. He’ll take over the position from Dan Pirrallo who’s currently the General Manager at the Boulder Millennium Harvest House.

The Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) was founded in the late 19th century, so it has a rich history of advocacy in the area. The association strives to continue that advocacy for the areas hotels and lodging properties. Glenwood Hot Springs became a member in the CH&LA more than 40 years ago. The CH&LA currently has 375 members that span over 37,000 guest rooms in Colorado, including every type of lodging from quaint bed & breakfasts and rustic cabins to luxury timeshares and condos, ski resorts and deluxe vacation home rentals.

Mitchell says that his focus as the chairman will be to educate lodging owners about the advantages of membership in the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association, and to represent and safeguard their interests while providing a voice for them in government-related issues. He also intends to support hotels and hospitality by encouraging others to choose it as a profession and a rewarding career.

Mitchell’s vast experience in hospitality helped the CH&LA make the decision to appoint him the leader in 2010. He was the CH&LA Vice-Chair in 2009, and had served on their executive committee. He has also taken part in the activities of the association for a long time, offering his experience and knowledge generously. He currently manages the Spa of the Rockies, and The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, as well as the world renowned Hot Springs Pool.
