It has been reported by many different online publications that the U.S. House of Representatives have passed the Travel Promotion Act of 2008.
However, a lot of people are unclear to what this really means for the average person. The TIA (Travel Industry Association) has said that this is bound to create economic growth for the United States by increasing the focus of the Tourism industry to better accommodate international travelers. They have also said that this will create jobs for Americans by the thousands. The TIA has made statements that they say international foreign tourists to American are rapidly declining.
The numbers say that the industry has lost $23 billion in lost tax revenue and $140 billion in lost visitor spending by international foreign travelers. The main role of the Act will be to try and create a partnership that is both public and private that will work to promote the United States as leading tourist destination. Its will also work to communicate policies of security and entry.
This bill will not be funded by taxpayers and be strictly be funded by contributions from the private sector. It will also partly be funded by a fee that will be imposed on foreign travelers who do not pay for a visa.

There will be many events that take place, all of which are free to the public, that include food, music, and special events.
A lot of the museums that are participating in this kick of the Denver Arts Week will be having special events for this one night only. For instance, the Forney Museum of Transportation will have visitors wander through a dark museum that will be lit by lanterns and the headlights of old antique and historic cars, trains. There are many other great events to attend with nearly a dozen other museums taking place. If you have children, you may want to stop by the Children’s Museum that will be playing silent Old West movies. At the Denver Arts Museum you will find the Hannah Kahn Dance Company and the Ballet Ariel performing in the lobby. For the full opening night schedule visit the Denver Arts Week Website.
Denver is proud to announce a spectacular “Night at the Museums” event on November 14, 2008, which will showcase nearly one dozen of the city’s museums that have committed to staying open late on that Friday evening and offering special events to the patrons who attend. The “Night at the Museums” event is offered free of charge to all attendees and will kick-off Denver Arts Week, which runs from November 14th through 22nd, 2008.
Loosely based on similar events held in Paris called the “Nuit des Musees”, the Denver “Night at the Museums” is meant to showcase the many special exhibits that the museums of the Mile High city has offer. At various museums, special exhibits will be on display especially for the enjoyment of the participants in this event. For instance, at the Forney Museum of Transportation, the historic vehicles that are on display will be lit up at night for this celebration. The remainder of the museum will be kept in the dark and only the lights of the vehicles will light the way.
The Kirkland Museum of Decorative and Fine Art will hold a jazz concert during this special night that features Denver jazz legend Charlie Burrell. For more information on Denver’s Night at the Museums, go to www.VisitDenver.com or the Denver Visitors Bureau page.
